7 Affordable Ways to Pamper Yourself at Home

Life can get hectic with everything there is to balance. In the midst of trying to get everything done, we sometimes forget to take time for ourselves. This could lead to burnouts, panic attacks, and unnecessary stress. The perfect way to avoid these things from occurring would be to pamper yourself. While this may be an obvious solution for some, there are those who never take the time to indulge. Whether it be a lack of time or a tight budget, it's not made a priority in their lives. If this sounds familiar, I've listed seven affordable ways you can pamper yourself at home down below.

1. At-Home Mani/Pedi

On average, manicures, alone, cost about $30-$60 and when you add in a pedicure, the cost doubles. This can be extremely expensive if you're getting your nails done every other week. The next time you're at Target, go to the nail section and get some nail polish in your favorite colors. Along with the polish, get a nail filer, clippers, a buffer, and anything else you think you'll need. The amount you spend on the supplies will most likely cost the same amount you'd pay for one single manicure and you'd be getting more uses out of it than you would going to the salon.

2. Read a Book (Or Audiobook)

Reading can be relaxing and stimulating. On the days you have some alone time, read a book. Whether it be fictional or self-help, reading is one of the best ways to decompress after a long day. It helps you temporarily escape your reality and takes your mind off what may be going on in your life. And if reading isn't your thing, listen to an audiobook instead.

3. Take a Bubble Bath

This is probably the most common way to pamper yourself. As simple as it may be, taking a nice, warm bubble bath is truly beneficial. Bubble baths are a great way to unwind and calm your body after an eventful day. Rather than taking a 10-minute shower, light some candles, turn on some soothing music and take a nice bath.

4. Make DIY Face Mask

Face masks are staples in many people's skincare routine. People will spend $60+ on expensive face masks and creams, hoping to purify their skin. Where these face masks are usually effective, they're out of the price range for many people. But not all hope is lost. There are a variety of face masks you can make at home for an affordable price. Search 'DIY Face Masks' on YouTube and find a mask that you'd like to try.

5. Drink Wine while Watching TV

After a busy day, it's nice to kick back and relax with a glass of wine while watching your favorite tv-show. Some might look at watching TV as a waste of time, but it's okay to give yourself time to empty your mind. It's important to give yourself time to unwind every once and a while. So once you finish your work for the day, pour yourself a glass of Moscato and catch up on your favorite shows.

6. Listen to Your Favorite Playlist

This is something I tend to do that instantly lifts my spirits. There's something about listening to your favorite songs, singing along to every word that boosts your mood every time. Even if you only listen to a couple of songs, make sure you map out time every day to listen to some music.

7. Cook Yourself a Nice Meal

In the age of Postmates and Ubereats, more and more people are straying away from cooking meals. It's understandable being it's more convenient than preparing a whole meal, but every so often you should take the time to cook for yourself. And when I say cook for yourself I don't mean a basic chicken and rice dinner. Actually, take the time to prepare a well thought out meal for yourself. Cook a dish you've always wanted to make but never made the time to.

Whether you do just a couple or all seven, start somewhere. Most of the activities listed are simple and manageable. If you're on a budget, this is the perfect way to pamper yourself without spending too much being as they don't require much money. If time is a factor choose one thing from the list to do sometime this week. Once you've done one thing, pick another activity from the list. By doing this, eventually, you'll make a habit of pampering yourself.
