Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips to Keep in Mind

After a long winter, Springtime is here, this probably means you'll be doing some Spring cleaning. From cleaning out closets to deep cleaning entire homes, Spring cleaning can be extremely therapeutic. While there are some people who love cleaning around this time of year, there are those who feel they don't have the time or just don't want to. If you tend to skip Spring cleaning, here are five tips to get you started.

Tip #1: Start small

It can get very overwhelming when you look at all there is to get done. This is why you should start small. Start your cleaning process by getting rid of unnecessary clutter around your home. For instance, like finally getting rid of the old condiment packets you've been storing in your fridge for years. Starting little then working your way up to the bigger tasks is a good tactic and will keep you from getting burnt out easily.

Tip #2: Take it one day at a time

The next tip would be for you to take it day by day. Because schedules tend to get hectic, it's hard to set out an entire day solely for cleaning and decluttering. A solution to this would be to knock out a couple of tasks every day or every other day until you've completely finished cleaning.

Tip #3: Allow yourself to let go

When it comes to decluttering your home, it's vital that you allow yourself to let go of unneeded clutter. Often times, we hold on to certain items because they hold good memories and sentimental value. You should still try going through the things you've been holding on to for years and make a decision on whether it's something you need to keep or not.

Tip #4: Don't limit yourself to your home

While our homes are the main thing we focus on when spring cleaning, you can't neglect going through your car and cleaning out the junk you've collected over the years. Another thing you shouldn't skip is your phone. Go through your phone and delete old photos, apps, numbers, etc. Not only will this make your phone more manageable, but you'll also free up some space for new items.

Tip #5: Be open to change

Once you've cleaned and decluttered everything, try moving things around. Maybe move around your living room or change up the color scheme in your home. Having a freshly cleaned home with a new look will be a great refresher every time you come home, so be open to transforming your space.

Whether Spring cleaning is something you do every year or something that's new for you, these tips will definitely make the process easier. Decluttering your environment will help you declutter your brain, helping you press the reset button. Pour yourself a glass of wine, put on your favorite playlist, and get to cleaning!
