#WineDownWednesday: Pumpkin-Spiced Apple Cider

Fall is here which means pumpkin-spiced everything. To join in on the festivities, I decided to make this week's #WineDownWednesday pumpkin-spiced apple cider. Cider is a popular drink around this time of year because of its warmth and spicey flavor. Here is the best pumpkin-spiced apple cider recipe to try throughout the fall.

Pumpkin-Spiced Apple Cider Recipe

  • 30 oz can canned pumpkin puree

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest

  • 3 3/4 cup fresh apple juice or cider

  • 1 cup spiced rum

  1. Combine pumpkin puree, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, sugar and orange zest in a saucepan. Heat mixture on low for 30 minutes.

  2. Strain the pumpkin puree mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove pulp and other particles.

  3. Return the smooth, strained pumpkin puree mixture to a clean saucepan. Add the 3 3/4 cups apple cider and 1 cup of rum.

  4. Warm gently over low heat.

  5. Garnish each mug of cider with a cinnamon stick and apple cube.
